    I have this awesome goni addition in my tank for the last month, its doing and looking awesome,
    but what i want to know is what type and scientific name is it

    Lol, as for care, I would get some pvc to mount it on. these guy are notorious for wasting away, and one big cause is abrasion damage and the resultant bacterial infection. I have heard from alot of people who had long term success by placing them on an appropriate PVC ring. Food for thought.

    Has anybody kept them on the live rock or maybe a large frag plu?

    Mine is on a frag plug, its not huge but the plug is maybe 2 inches in diameter. You goni is much larger than mine tho, it would probably be better to go from a pvc ring

    My guess is G. pandoraensis. Pretty much the only species of Goniopora my LFS gets in. They have one that is pretty big and has been there for quite a while. Never heard of the PVC ring, but it makes sense and can't hurt to try.

    Pic is a bit blurry; Could also be g. norfolkensis or minor or tenuidens.
