The Alk. tester is great but as has been stated people are having difficulties with the Calcium version. I kinda called that one when they came out as they require you to test using your R.O. water which as we all know is not very accurate depending on the age of your filters.;)
I love my Hanna but am patiently waiting for the Mag. kit.;)

Oh boy, I thought people were going to be all about the Hanna Checkers. :-/

I am definitely waiting for the new Ca tester but am now concerned about the ALK tester.

I don't know what to do now.

Why's that? I love my Alk. checker. It is always accurate for me and the testing takes seconds.:-/

Ca and ALK. I love both of them. RODI water will do just fine, provided you have city water that is. Also, they will send you water with no Ca in it free of charge for testing.

I was going of what Pink said.

I am definitely open to the ALK tester now and Ca when they release the better version.

i don't find the alk hanna checker to be unaccurate, i just find it to be a pain compared to my api test. and they get the same reading when i test with both. hanna gives you numbers, the api is a color chart, but both are always reading the same as far as 7 8 or 9 or what ever my alk is at , at the time. hannas gives you actual numbers, but who really needs that? you also have to cross check the hanna # reading to get the actual dkh number. since hanna gives you the reading in ppm not dkh. also 5 dollars verses 50. my hanna alk test kit sits. and i use it as a back up if i feel my reading may be off. i have two different brands of test kits in almost all i test for. ( except phosphates) a backup test kit in another brand lets me double check my readings when i feel something may be off. instead of running to the local fish store for them to test.

Thanks for the clarification, I used the API in the past and didn't find them to be as accurate as my Red Sea Test kits.

But I do use API for Nitrate.
