Looking to get a 90 gallon tank this week for a fish only tank (but will have a little live rock). I don't really want to use live sand, but what would be a good substrate to use in a fish only tank?

I really like the sand from Reefrocks.net. You don't need to pre-wash it, and it is not too fine to cause a sandstorm in your tank from your powerheads. Otherwise, don't waste your money on live sand. Regular old sand is just fin. Just avoid the sugar sized stuff.

Can't recommend them enough. size is perfect, big enough not to be blow around, yet small enough for sand sifting fish. does not need to be washed really, clears up in less than a day after adding water.
