Wondering if anyone can help me, I've been using leds for a while and love them but miss that oomph for sps growth from halides. So i brought out my old MH light, I stripped all the Power compact lighting and crap leds and left just the 2 MH units left inside. Got a lot of spare room to work with. What im going to do is swap in all my royal blue and colored leds and leave the whites out. Im hoping using this combo will give me that awesome growth from MH, plus the color pop from using the cree leds. But would I be better using a lower spectrum halide around 10k? or 14k would be okay. I prefer the slighter bluish look. But feel the royal blue leds will provide that. Or should i go for a low kelvin MH like a 6700-8000k?

dingo would be the guy to PM but i think the 14K spectrum with give you the nice blue look with tons of growth, the 10k will be a little to yellow for you i think.

What wattage and bulb type (mogul or DE) are you looking for?

well I did it, added 19 leds to a 250w geissman coral colored bulb, was told this was close to 14k. to me i say its closer to 10k though. So far it has worked exactly as I had hoped for. Within 1 hour all the POlyp extension of the sps had trippled. The corals still have their awesome flouresance that the leds gave em, BUt i also find a lot cleaner light with the full spectrum addedd. My only note i have noticed. 20 leds is not even close to having a decent color mix, Im going to have to add another 15-16 to fill the gaps. But overall i am loving this light.

After only one day i have noticed a huge improvement using both MH and a alot of CRee LEDS.
