What brand of salt are you using and why? Is it just because it is handy, reputation, experience, or something else?

I am considering switching over to salt mix from natural seawater and would like some thoughts. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I have always used Tropic Marin. Parameters stay stable and I am of the school that if something is not broke, don't try to fix it.

I use Kent Marine. It's what I can get locally so I go with, and it it works for me.

I change brands at every water change and always have 4 or 5 different types stashed away in 1 gallon ice cream buckets. IMO as long as you use a quality salt and aeriate it for at least 24 hours you won't have problems.

I sometimes buy Instant ocean premixed RO/DI from LFS. but when I mix it myself Ive been using PETCO!! LOL which really is catalina (relabeled) salt. calcium is high, but I notice the very alk is too. I test weekly and dose so it really doesnt matter to me.

I like Catalina because I don't have to let it sit overnight before use, but it is getting expensive now that I have two tanks. E.S.V. advertises 10 minutes before water is tank ready, but it looks like it may be a pain to mix.

Brightwell salt... just started using it a few months ago and hands down the best salt i have ever seen!!! like it is noticeably better than anything i have ever used before (instant ocean, reef crystals, red sea, catalina) and i dont think i will switch from it ever, that is how impressed i was!

Tropic marine is a decent salt too, but its so expensive because most of the price comes from the shipping out of Germany
