My new lights (30" Sundial 4x24), come in tomorrow, and I'm wondering if I should go topless, (calm down), or leave the glass "versa-lid" in place. I read about how leaving the tank open promotes good gas exchange, yadda yadda yadda. Advice? I am just starting to add some zoas and polyps...or will be on Wednesday.

I would leave the top open. For the gas exchange and also glass and splash screen (although handy) cut down on the par value of your lighting. Good Luck

does the sundial fixture have a perspex cover over the tubes? (Im not sure)
if so then yes , get that glass cover off is ideal

if not, you do need to consider condensation in your light fixture, salt water , salt creep
and electrics are not a great combination IME
