Hey guys so for my 55 gallon marine I need some lights that can first be "normal" and then have a switch on to go to blue moonlight a night (obviously not the whole night). Since I'm not having any reefs or inverts that need good light I will not need any expensive high lights but just something to look at. Any suggestions?

you could get a marineland double or single bright fixture, they are pretty cheap and i believe they have moonlights built in, if you dont want to go led you could always get just a 1-2 bulb t5 or pc fixture.

If the OP wants a reef tank dont get the marine land they arent powerful enouh for anything other then softies if that. If you are on a budget i would grab a 2-4 bulb t5 or even a used fixture. theres always someone upgrading to LEDs

IIRC, Marineland recommends that you use a glass top with their fixtures.

The glass top will work well to keep the eel in. But really if you have enough rockwirk and hiding places he won't even attempt escape.
