I should be getting my new T5 lights tommorrow and am wondering if I am going to have to relocate this clam? It has been kept under pc's since I got him over a year ago. It was about 2" when I got it and now it is about 3 1/2" now. The color looks way better in person, my little digital camera doesnt really show the colors.
My new lights will be 48" 4 x 54 watt, they will be replacing the 48" pc's.
I forgot what kind of clam this is, anyone have an id?

and you will not have to relocate. t5s will be better suited than the pcs. so if he is at point A under pcs. He will be happier at point A under t5's

I think it depends on where it is at. If its up high it may need to be moved lower so it dont get burnt by the light. If its on the bottom it will probably be fine. T5 lights are a lot brighter than PCs. Just keep an eye on him for changes.

He is very close to the top. About 3 1/2" from the water surface. I did some research last night and for safety of the clam, I am going to move him down lower for the fist few days then slowly move him up a little higher every few weeks until I find the spot it seems to do best. After having it for just over a year, I have grown attached to it, one of my favorite residents, always gets the oohs and aahs.

    Thanks

and one thing to remember, unless the clam is on a seperate rock that you can move it with, be careful not to tear the clams foot , bysal threads sp? , when taking off your rock work. nice clam btw.

Thanks for the compliment, and the info on the bysal threads. That is something I am aware of. Before I first purchased it I did some reading on this forum,(did I say reading, I meant lurking) and found out about them and thankfully placed it on the small rock that had the perfect cradle shape. Now when it needs to be moved, it stays on the rock and I can place it anywhere. Your spelling of bysal is correct by the way.
