I have this algae that is brownish green and it is only on one spot of my live rock. It looks slimey and it looks like it is pearling (small air bubbles are coming off of it). Another weird thing is that when I turn my light on in the morning, it is nowhere to be found. But by the time I go to sleep it has grown in slightly more than the day before. I've never read of anything like this and I want to know what it is. Thank you all for the help! :)

    Cyanobacteria, I'm guessing.

I would guess cyano, but a pic is worth a thousand words.

Cyano being a red bacteria doesn't fit his brown/green discription. If I had to guess its likely diatoms or dinoflagellates, lack of flow is why bubbles are being seen.

A pic would be needed for sure.

Red is the most common colour, but it can occur in browns and greens as well.

+1, and it's actually all called blue-green cyanobacteria, even if it's red!

+1 on every bodies replies, but if you want to positively identify it, post a pic. Everyone here will ID what you have and most likely give you twenty ways of defeating it...lol (plus I'm really wanting to just see it)
