    Diatoms and Green Hair Algae

Check your water parameters first. Specifically, nitrates and phosphates.... odds are they are not zero.

Sometimes phosphates show zero but in actuality, the algae is just eating it.

    How old is your tank?
    Are you running a fuge?
Are you running GFO or EcoBak?

The tanks almost new maybe a week and a half old now, just what's listed in specs.

So you are just starting the cycle. Are you cycling with a dead shrimp?? I hope. or do you have fish in there??

Did you use conditioned tap water or RO/DI water to start out??

Cycling chemically with additives as well as with live rock. They're two fish in there as well. It's conditioned tap but the city water up here is actually very good.

"Very good" is how I thought our water was, too.

....then I got a TDS meter, and saw 250 TDS.

Post back with your water parameters. Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrate, Phosphate, SG.

Diatoms and Algae only exist in tanks where there are nutrients for them to survive.... nutrients like nitrates and phosphates....

Odds are your tap water isn't as good as you think.... it never is.
