What kind of algae is this and how to get rid of it

    This stuff grows all over my rocks except for the live rock I bought that is covered in coraline.

    Doesn't appear to be GHA. My guess would be a somewhat harmless microalgae since it's unable to compete with your coralline.

    does it branch off? Look like a fern?

    from the pic gha. lots of species covered in "gha". there are blue greens that have filamentous strands look a bit like the 2nd pic, but I think it is just gha. +1 coralline took the space.. if you want to ber certain take a clump, drop tincture of iodine (iodide?) outside of the tank on the removed clump and see if it stains from starch. If so, gha.
