    i keep mine at 1.023-4

Most people run it at 1.23-6 area...Its in the safest area really in my opinion. But Reall 1.023-6 and even 7 are okay..But 1.025 being a base for all really.

I couldn't tell ya, Saints Fan. My guess would be that they(those that don't have an ATO) are assuming evaporation will make up that extra 0.001.

I too keep mine at 1.026. Natural sea water has a salinity level of 1.0267.

I keep mine at 1.026. I think people keep theirs at 1.023-.025 for margin of error, and it's cheaper (minimally, lol).

You guys are talking specific gravity, salinity is measured in parts per thousand.

My salinity is 35ppt, my SG is 1.026.

Good point 2 in 10...SG would vary depending on where it is at(further out or closer to shore/rivers).

I always seem to get thee two terms(SG/salinity) mixed up. I know what they are, but I can never remember which is which.

is there any advantage for a higher or lower salinity?
