I have been thinking about building a refugium soon and was curious what lighting schedule you use on yours... let me know.. what works for you?

I have always read that running opposite reduces ph swing. I still get a small ph drop overnight, but i think that is due to the corals "Sleeping" and the chaeto and mangroves just dont make up the difference. That being said, My fuge grows extremely well with a curly fry bulb (6500k). I also still believe that even plants need a day and night cycle. Working great for me..but havent tried anything else.

opposite w/overlap. I read everywhere that it helps keep pH stable... have never consistently tested late at night to find out tho :p

To be honest, I keep mine on the same schedule, little overlap. I have never had a ph issue, although I am strict with WC every 2-3 weeks max. And my fuge is packed with growing chaeto and a few mangroves.
Although now, I am re-thinking this reading these posts!

How can you be the man behind 3reef and not have a fuge?:p

Anyway, I run opposite with a slight overlap. Well, noticed the other day there is a slight overlap and it was sort of done on purpose but never knew if it really happened.

I never really tested that theory with test kits. I recently got a live PH meter, so it is pretty easy with that running!!:) I never wanted to get up at 3am and test either-LOL

I do opposite with a 45 min overlap to get everything in the fuge photosynthesizin' good before the DT lights go off.

My digital timer for my lights has a night outlet that only works when the main outlet is off, makes it easy to do an opposite lighting schedule :)
