What's the point of these little LED's? Is it just for a little shimmer on the top of the water? Do the fish/corals like it?

The reason I ask is because I am in the market for a lighting system, and I really like the GLO 54x2 T5 setup, but the fixture doesn't have moonlights or a fan. But I heard they have brilliant reflectors and they look very sleek. I could get 2 of them and have a 216 watt T5 setup for less than 300 bucks, and it would look good on top of my tank.

Moonlights are for night time viewing, when the main lights are off. Their not a necessity, but still nice to have.

With the lights out and the moonlights on the colors are real intense. Almost like being under a blacklight. You get a nice shimmer also.

I think the moonlights are more for personal taste. The part that would worry me the most is that the fixture doesnt have a fan. Even with t5's putting off less heat, I still wouldnt run something that long without some kind of fan.
