    Hi everybody,
I have one single piece of mushroom in my tank. My tank has been set up for 7 months now.
I walked by my tank just before the light went out and I saw string looking thing coming out and then few seconds later something white was trying to come out.

What in the world is going on?

Possibly mesentary, no big deal unless you see many strands of it.

What Is the Function of the Mesentery?

    By Adam Cloe, eHow Contributor

I want to do this! What's This?

The mesentery is a layer of connective tissue that exists in vertebrates. It exists to sustain and support certain portions of the small intestine from the abdomen. The mesentery consists of parts of the peritoneum. The function of the mesentery is to project and shelter nerves and blood vessels from the central system to the organ.

That about covers it, corals use it to consume food.
