almost all marine fish are very small when you get them. you should always research first and plan your equipment for the adult size of your fish.

    help me

the people above are all offering you very good advice about what a 3 gallon salt water tank can accomodate happily

but I do worry that they may be wasting their time , becuase you have a clown fish in a 3 gallon tank and you want to put another fish in there

we had a similar story you may be aware of a member who wanted to put a lionfish in a 11.8 gallon tank - many people advised this member that he should not do that

well a couple of weeks later , this guy is posting about a Lionfish in a 11.8 gallon tank with a cloudy eye (ammonia was the consensus as to why this fish was in this state)

I dont know what the end of the story was - I have no idea if the fish died, if the fish was taken back, if the 11.8 gallon tank still exists

I do know that I learned a valuable lesson from that thread

some people who ask a question and dont like the answer, will ignore the answer.

Steve, I hope you are just being your tactful self, and I'm guessing you know full well the OP of the thread to which you allude above is the very same OP of THIS thread.

    (but you knew that, didn't you. . . .?)

I did, but did not want my post to seem like a flaming of him (I was being diplomatic)

just wanted to make him think so that this time maybe he takes the good advice and does not put any more live stock in inappropriate conditions

    I agree completely.

No clownfish should be kept in a 3 gallon. Maybe a clown goby or smaller, if even one of those.

Read the article below about finding nemo and clownfish

I think they're actually 2.5 gallons.. then the rock in there and you have about 2 gallons.
