I'm trying to set up a poll - so not sure if I'll figure it out. With all of the awesome tanks on this site, I would love to know what people keep in their fuges.

If you do something not listed, please share. I'm also interested in those that keep macro algae, what type would be great information.

You don't have an option I can pick... :p

No sand. Took it all out a while back; became little more than a detritus trap. I now use a turkey baster to suck out what accumulates on the sump bottom at water changes.

Beyond that, there's some LR, chaeto, cyano, and hair algae. The cyano pretty much out-competes everything else in there, however. Daily I export whatever patches have peeled and floated to the surface.

Mine had sand, cyano and any nuisance algae I removed from the DT.

My refugium has sand, live rock rubble/smaller pieces, a mantis shrimp, chaeto, Kenya Tree (keeping it out of the DT!!) and cyano.

wow.....a good variety of refugiums out there. Does anyone have recommendations on types of macro besides cheato and cyano (I'm not used to thinking of this in terms of macroalgae)......I was curious whether anyone grows mangroves?

    OFK,

I too have no valid poss option in your poll.

I have a skimmer, goes to a LARGE chaeto area, then to the RP.

I also have some algae like turf algae that accumolates on my overflow from my skimmer area.

NO sand, No rock (lots of LR in the DT however), shallow SB of crushed coral only- fimely cruched, kinda like a sand.

I also don't think that evolved meant that he tries to grow and cultivate cyano- yet he has it in his sump/fuge. Right?

I learned early on that peoples definition of a sump or a fuge are usually synonomous, and or interchangeable- maybe it's just me thought ;-)

I have live rock, chaeto, unidentified macro, Zoas, mangroves and whatever else finds it's way down there. No sand. I like the mangroves, they are pleasing to my eyes but don't export that much

hmmmm.....I assumed sand was a given in a refugium, my bad. Todd, I figured evolved and others were saying it ends up there from elsewhere and they're not cultivating it but I also get that it's probably a good exporter....
