If i read your lighting correctly you have 96watts of T5 lighting. I currently have a crocea clam under my T5 lights and it's doing very well. Given that I have placed it fairly high up. If you have 96w, I actually have a little less watts/gal. then you have, 216w over a 55. You may be able to have a crocea, although you do need very good water quality also. I would say you could do a maxima or squasmo too. If you only have 48watts, then I would say you really couldn't have any clam.

A Hippopus is about the only type you would have any long term luck with, And many have and will learn a clam can and often do take months to die from day one.. And with the Hippopus you need to get that as close as you can to what little lighting you have to offer really. I'd double what you now have to ensure any long term susuess with a hippopus even..

Perhaps a Derasa might work given that it will be placed very high up on the tank. Have you thought about switching out one of the two actinic lamps to something with more par?

yeh thats no trouble, another 14000k t5 maybe could even go 2 more t5's and get a seperate actinic in its own reflector
