I am new to this board (just now registered) and saw people using Helios, what are they and who makes them?

    Ah.. the Helios.
That is a fixture that was sold on hellolights.com. It was a nice fixture with legs for open tops and a good amount of PC lamps packed into it for an amazing price!

So I started talking about them and JPfish on this board stepped up and bought the damn thing.

You know what they say about things being too good to be true? Well it's true in this case. I felt awful.

I think it broke on him twice! So he returned it, hellolights.com got a lot of complaints and last I heard they don't carry them anymore.

Here are some pics of it, JPfish has a thread in the lighting board about his experience too.

    Oh I see!

Looks like a lot of companies are making lights that look like that! I have seen a few myself!

It's a real shame about the Helios. I got excited about them because I saw a 4 ft VHO power compact strip made by them for about $100. I know that sounds a lot for a single bulb fixture, but it's 200 watts. I thought that was really something for a 4 ft florescent bulb in that wattage. Was hoping I could find a 6 ft quad configuration for my tank.
