well water for a planted tank?

i was wondering if i could add maybe a gallon of water to my ten gallon tank straight from the tap? we live in the county so we have well water. i thought this might help the plants in the planted tank grow since it doesnt go through as much filtering as city water and it has high iron. the other 9 gallons of water will be RO/DI.

You could use all tap as long as you remove the chlorine. I use all tap in my planted tank.

 

^ +1 I would use all well water, it will have all the nutrients that the plants need.

 

ok. for chlorine would i just let it sit for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate? is there even chlorine in the well water?

 

If the well is your own most likely no, just check with your parents.

If it is shared possibly again check with your parents. You could use Seachem Prime or let the water sit for 24 hours while it is aerated.
