I'm getting an all-in-one system and I'm planning to build some media baskets out of acrylic sheets and egg crate mesh to put in the rear chambers. I have some Weld-on #16 that I plan to use but I notice a majority of people use Weld-on #4 instead. Are there disadvantages of Weld-on #16 vs #4? Is #16 aquarium safe after it sets? Also will #16 bond the egg crate mesh to the acrylic? Thanks!

I don't know about the egg crate bonding, but once cured, it is not toxic to anything.
The 16 is more thicker (maple syrup) than the watery 3 or 4 and easier to use than the 3 or 4 IME.

Great, thank you! So if the #16 won't bond the egg crate to the acrylic than what else would you recommend to attach the two?

It might work, do a test with a piece of acrylic and egg crate and see if firmly bonds??

    Curiosity killed the cat.... ;D
I just went outside, using WO16, I bonded a piece of white egg crate to the side of an old acrylic tank, I will let you know how it holds up tomorrow after it cures. Seems to be holding now though.

If anything you could always but a lip around the bottom and sit the egg creat on top that way if it brakes some how you can replace it
