haha i am sure that many an envious reef keeper wishes that they could refer to corals as "weeds" karma for the great job

Boy, Omard, I have the same problem as you!!! Xenia and Capnella are growing all over the place, asexually reproducing like crazy!
One thing that I noticed with my Xenia, is that for some reason my Xenia will thrive, reproduce and look incredible, then after a couple months, some of my population will die off. Then after about a week or so, my Xenia population grows back to what it was before and then some!

I, now, never panic when it start to recede as I know it will come back! I don't do anything different, so my guess is that possibly it is a case of old age or the strongest survive and will be replaced.
I originally thought it had something to do with my lights, disolved organics, iodine and/ or nitrates but with me literally doing nothing more than removing the decaying Xenia from my tank, it cycles through!
    Pretty interesting

Mine was doing same, but think my overtemp adventure was too much for it, as shortly thereafter is all shriveled and disappeared.

Pretty coral, but have decided not to replace it for now.

If you're ever throwing away frags of those corals that you're cutting back, I'd be happy to take them off your hands, if they would be able to survive in my tank. I don't have any coral yet, but I plan on starting late spring/summer so I'll start researching soon. I'm only 15 minutes away from Meriden.

Thanks, Let me know next time you are going to be cutting back some coral.
Are you going to the CTARS conference in Cromwell, April 13?
My wife and I might go.
