Hi Guys - comments made by Missionsix and others on various threads have got me thinking/ questioning a paradyme

I have had various SW set ups and on all of them I routinely performed 10% + water changes on a weekly basis

I have had a FOWLR set up for 12 months that I am currently converting to a reef

despite the total contents of my 70 gallon tank being 2 x yellow tail blue damsels, 1 x fireball angel and 1 x banana wrasse , plus live rock, hermits and snails ( this is the max stock thats been in the system all year) - I have done 52 water changes in 12 months

    my current parameters are
    SG - 1.026
ph - 8.2 (day time reading)
    NHO3/04 - 0
    NO2 - 0
NO3 - Less than 10ppm (Hippo test kit recently purchased)
    PO4 - less than 1ppm

I use RO water and have done ever since tank was set up

would changing 8 gallons ( its 4 buckets so its easy for me ) this weekend , be beneficial or not?

as Pharmjohn nicely put it on one of his threads " what does the collective mind, think?"

a water change is always beneficial as long as it doesn't use the majority of water in the tank.
whether its removing nitrates or replacing elements that are used by fish and corals
