Watch an octopus open up a jar while it's still trapped inside the jar

At the Milwaukee zoo, I got to see them feed the octopus one day. They put a jar with a lid on it and some holes in the top (for smell, I assume) and that opus went over there and opened it up. Wicked awesome!

so this is awesome.

 

these things are wickedly smart! I had one for a while.........had to stimulate it with games and toys to keep it occupied. Would feed him with a jar that he had to open. Also had to make the tank like a federal pen! Somehow though mine managed to squeeze through a tiny hole that I must have missed, crawled on the carpet across the room and got into my FO tank. The only way I knew he did this was because my large scorpion was on the floor, and my puffer was fine. There in the water was floating a tenticle all that was left of him! My puffer was fat and happy that day!

That's crazy! I think if their beak can fit thru, then they can fit the rest thru the hole. So wild. Just to think of all your innards being squished down like that, brain and all.
