i hear that using an RO filter wastes a lot of water. How much water are we talking per gallon of RO water made?

When I researched my R/O unit, most had 3:1to 5:1 ratios of waste to product. There are uses for the "waste" water though - dishes, laundry, garden, etc., so it's not a total loss. ;D

Most are 4 gallons of waste water to 1 gallon produced.
During the summer use the waste water in the garden.

The "waste" water has been filterred thru the R/O units carbon and particulate filters first, so it's pretty darn clean "waste" water.
