I have a 120 gal. tank with power compacts lighting the tank. Would that be efficent for a dersa clam to sit on the bottom? or should I set it mid-way up on a rock?

I also have a 20 gal. refug. with power compacts I can set him in if need be but only if I have to...

any help is greatly appreciated :)

How much PC lighting are we talking about. It is not unheard of people keeping Maximas under PCs, but they have a lot of em.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Derasa clams are found on the substrate so I am not sure how they would fair in the rockwork. I have always kept them in the sand.

What is the distance between the fixture and the sand bed approx and watts?
