    Hi Everybody,

I'm just looking for some ideas about getting into marine biology, what kind of education people have, what kind of jobs are available, etc... This seemed like a good place to start! I have a BS in Biochem & Molecular Bio. So far all my job experience has been related to that (lots of Western Blots and PCR). University of Maryland has a really cool grad program in Marine and Estuarine Environmental Science that I'm thinking about applying to. Sorry if this is rambling, but I'm just wondering what I could realistically expect to do with that kind of education. Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I will say this.....do it if it's the love of your life. Otherwise, run away screaming. :) Until you get a doctorate, you will be a gopher and lackey for someone else who does have their doctorate. :) (Well maybe it's not quite that bad but it's close).

Why don't you email Eric Borneman, Rob Toonen, etc and see if they can give you some ideas of areas they recommend you put a lot of your schooling towards?
