I got mine from bluezoo. They are starting to have them on a regular basis. Stomatopod.com usually has some too.

Along the lines of mantis selection - do females have the same coloration as males across the various species?

Just wondering if that then becomes a factor in selection.

    :)

Very good question! I was thinking about that as well after seeing the major difference between male and female fish of the same species, like anthias for example.

I don't have any experience with mantis shrimps, but if, in fact, there is a difference on the coloration due to the species sex, it would surely have an impact on the selection.

Anyone with more knowledge care to contribute on that?

@ reefmonkey: where do you get those crazy bump images?
And sorry for the thread jacking earlier. I'm think NewReef made a mistake and meant to say somebody else's name on that sentence, but still felt intrigued :)

The only species I know of with differing colors is the G. Ternatensis (Orange Spot). The males have the blue antennal scales and uropods where the females are orange and yellow.

The O. hav not getting any love on the polls is exactly why you should get one. ;)

Might be the drabest colored mantis on the list, but it makes up for it in buckets of personality.

It tops the list of the hard to get mantis. And really is the one I would like to have. Mainly because it comes from the Keys. Here's my top six preference. All are hard to get, a couple dang near impossible but I've asked a few importer to look and guaranteed it'd be worth thier time.
