:( Well a little sad story, Sunday night we did our water change like normal. Later that night she fed the coral at 10pm and went to bed around 1am. She checked everything on the system as usual and everything was fine. I work nights and came home to my wife running out the door crying! Apparently during the night, the main pump (GenX PCX-100 only 3 F#@&%G months old) seized up during the night. Due to the feeding, the amonia spiked like crazy! I lost almost all my fish! :bigcry:

    Casualties include:
    Black Tang
    Chevron Tang
    Purple Tang
    Flame Angel
    Pair of Helfrichi Firefish
    Red Scooter Blenny
    Mimic Blenny
    2 Peppermint Shrimp
    2 Cleaner Shrimp

To add insult to injury, my LT Anenome was eating my dead Mimic Blenny and I had to pull it out of its mouth.

The only survivors were a pair of Yellow Stripe Maroons and their Anenome!

All my corals are fine but the emotional loss is really hard.

I will however learn from this, instead of having one pump at 1550gph on the main system, I'm ordering 2 790gph one for each return line!

It's a hard loss, but I've just got to get back up! :(

Man, that sucks! :( It strikes me as odd, that you lost fish, but no corals? How long was the pump down for? Obviously...some karma..

The from what I'm guessing no filtration for 7 hours, just circulation on the closed loop. The problem is the tank is almost all Acanthastrea, and their pigs. She had just fed them a few hours earlier with mysis. Sunday nights are the one night they get spoiled with some extra food. So basically any uneaten mysis was just spinning around the tank and not getting removed. Hence the giant ammonia spike. Thanks for the Karma, but Karma doesn't like me right now! That morning on my way home I stopped in the middle of the railroad tracks by my house to get a puppy that was wandering. He had a collar and I returned him to his owner who had been searching for him all night. Look what I got in return for my good deed... :(
