    Hello everyone.

Any one know about the Visi-Jet Protein skimmer? I am thinking of purchasing one but I am limited to a skimmer that hangs in the tank. Any suggestions? :)

No room behind the tank to hang it, eh? Or a sump?
    hmmm...

I don't have experience with the Visi-Jet, but I know the ultimate in-tank skimmers are probably the Tunze models. You can find them for a decent price if you really dig around on the net.

I live in Ottawa Ontario and there are not very many store that carry marine equipment here. I will give the net a try. Can you recomend any dealer in particular? :)

J&L Aquatics in Vancouver Carries Tunze product. They are probably the largest Canadian Web Store as well

Also Big Al's carries limited Tunze Porducts. I know there is a store in Ottawa and they as well are online.

    I think you'll get a better price from J&L.

Thank you. I will check them both out. I don't live to far from Big Al's. They seem to be the only place in the Ottawa area with sw equipment.

    How big is your tank?
The smallest Tunze Comline model goes for around $130, but the next one up is over $200.

Oh wow. Well the entry level Tunze won't work on that.
You would have to get the next one up that is rated for a tank that size.

What is your budget? Again, why does the skimmer have to go in the tank, do you have room behind the tank to put one there?

I can go as high as $100 for now. The reason it has to go inside the tank is that I have no room behind the tank and I can not change the canopy design to allow me to put one on the side. I talked to a budy of mine at Big Als and he is going to let me try out an old visi jet skimmer he has there. But thanks for all the advise I am still cycling the tank so I don't expect the skimmer to remove much gunk yet.

The skimmer will take up a good bit of swim room in your 75 gallon, as I know it would in my 80 gallon.
