    Hey Madman have you looked into T-5HOs let. There better than both VHO and PCs. And you can agrue a case for them against MH. I love mine. They are by far the most energy-effiecent, bright as heck and they don't cause as many heat problems as MH. Also if you shop around they are pretty affortable I got my 2 bulb retro for $143 shipped from Captive Reefs.
