Yeah, but you don't know how much toxins it could have stored up already... I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but since palytoxin is the something like the second-most known toxic substance on earth, and is VERY deadly, I would just recommend caution...

    Yeah, that's good advice. Thanks.
Always good to be careful with these things.

np, it just set off an alarm when I read that... of course, there is a possibility it's safe, but better to be careful until you know more...

if it stores the toxins in its body its likely to be to stop it getting eaten. I dont see how it could use the toxin for hunting - how would it get the toxin out of its body and into you?

just dont go eating it. or eating anythign after you've touched it...

plenty of critters do the same - store toxins up from the foods they eat.

    amazing looking beastie.

Palytoxin is some of the most deadly toxin known to man. So, if it were to pinch you, piercing your skin, and somehow excrete the toxin at the same time, it could kill you. This is not out of the realm of possibility.

It could also die in your tank and release toxins into the water killing all your tank's inhabitants.

I doubt the OP planned on eating it, so I wasn't even considering that.

Those crabs are rare. They don't have much info on it, so keep us posted on what its behaviors are like, etc. In fact you should start a thread and keep track of it! That would be super useful to a lot of people. :D
