UVL makes several types of bulbs. the VHO, or very high output bulbs will not fit a T5 fixture. "T5" is just the diameter of the bulb. T8s are a little bigger and T12 are bigger still. I believe VHO are T12, so they will fit a NO fixture or a T8 fixture but not a T5.

To make things more confusing, they make both VHO and V-HO.

VHO is a T-12 bulb. Very High Output

V-HO is a T-5 bulb. Variable High Output. This is the one you want. It will say on the site if it is the T-5 version.

Ok will the V-HO work for a normal HO system like Teks or does it need ice cap ballast that overdrive the VHO bulbs?

Will work in both overdriven and standard output systems.

    Ok,
I was just wondering because when I used one of these bulbs in my regular ballast, it blew my ballast, hence why I have to buy a new light fixture.
I would be sick if I bought a $350 dollar fixture just to blow it up as well.

    It's a 48" in T5 fixture from fishneedit.
yea I know its a crappy light fixture but it was working great for me, until I change a bulb.
