Resolved Unknown chalice, I think...

    Looking to find out what this is. 3mm thick, bumpy texture, almost feels like sandstone base. I was told it was a encrusting type coral, but didn't catch what it was called. I believe it to be a chalice, but could be wrong.

    Anyone?

    Lighting was blue, but coral appears vivid green under any light.

    looks almost like a montipora. is the top hard or soft (touch with gloves on please)

    It could be a chalice or a montipora, if I had to pick one, I would say chalice, but the eyes seem quite small.

    Hard, I believe. This was broken/snapped off of a much larger colony the guy was fagging.

    paid $10 for what would be a 3" diameter frag. Not sure where to put it in my tank. Light lover or bottom dweller?

    Only thing that gets me is that I don't see the many multiple polyps that my inital research has provided. Looks more carpet like. Need better pics?

    Darn, you guys are good. It's a Montipora Capricornis. The mother colony looked exactly like the one pictured below.
