How high is the temp? And cooling fans aimed at the water in your sump preferably, will cool it down.

from about 80 to 90 over night - (or 30c)

I dont use a sump - do you think melting ice cubes in the water would help or would this induce to much of a drastic change in temp??

Use a fan for evaporational cooling, in my opinion it is the best and least expensive.

I think it's kind of odd that a small UV sterilizer wouls raise the temp to 90! Is there anything else that could contribute? What is the temp without the UV running?

I agree with KOgle, I cannot see a UV sterilizer raise the temp that much. I run a 25 watt sterilizer and it does not effect my temperature in any way. How large of a sterilizer are you using?

it is probably the watts of the uv ive seen some go up to 150 watts but those are for big tanks.melting ice is cool.most refrigarators use some kind of metal piping.

What about only running the UV when the lights are off.

im running a 24w sterilizer but the tank is only 120l - thanks for the info - the temp has dropped a bit and the medusa coral has opened up - the shrooms are still quite shrivelled tho

    Check/replace heater.

    Reduce light periods.

    Get those fans running.

    Run room A.C.

    Move up here to PNW...;)
