    wait, i'm a really stupid newbie, but do you have to run a regular filter with the skimmer? and the beginning cycle, do you still need a filter running???

    Not sure what a "regular" filter is. If by something with HOB, no, thats what the sump takes care of. All your filtration needs.

    May i politely suggest, after reading some issues the past few days, that one of the first things you buy for a tank is a heater, or two, and at least 2 thermometers! And that when issues arise, the thermometer should be the first thing checked!

    I agree I just spent the last 2 days with a few other users on another forum trying to aid someone with issues and today finally they checked and found they're heaters werent working. could have lost a lot less stock if it had been check to begin with

    Great write up. I'm nearing the time to add water and start cycling myself and this helps so much. If anyone has a moment, you can check out my build thread here and give any advice or correct any issues you see.
