This isn't an ASAP, so placed it in Corals.. Just for Info..

I just got a Orange Sun Coral 4 Polyp's .. And wanted to know if anyone knew..

I know these can't be fragged, but can a large piece be cut with good
Polyp's on each section and they do good..?

I got them yesterday, and they didn't open last night..
I used my turkey baster after lights out. And put.
a mixture of finely ground up shrimp, B shrimp, mysis shrimp,
Zooplex, and phytoplex .... lightly on top of them anyway..
They are on the bottom of my tank, out of the light the best I can..
I have read everything I could on careing for these. So that part will be no problem.. ONCE I get them to open.. !!!

So should I do as I'm doing till they open..?
How long do they start to open..? Or when should I start to get worried..
They were shipped, so there must be some stress..
    ANY info would help..

I have candycanes, etc which I feed by hand.. So there's no problem there..

    Thanks Larry

When I had sun coral, I went through a period of about 2 months when they wouldnt open up. There was pretty much nothing I could do, I tried everything. I pretty much gave up, then after about the 2 month mark, they came right back. Not sure why, but some people speculate that it could be part of the growing process. However, since yours just came in the mail, I would say its still getting use to your tank. They are a pretty hardy coral if you feed them, so I wouldnt worry too much. The big thing to look for is tissue recession, thats when they start to starve.

Also, is it a frag or a small colony?

they will learn to open up with feedings. If you want them to open more in the day, then start feeding them during the day. After a couple weeks they will start opening in the day
