This is my friend Saltyfish's sun coral Tubastraea.  It seems to be eating as seen in pics but they don't seem to polyp out proporly.  There also seem to be some yellow tenticles growing out the sides of some polyps.  I will show a pic of mine as an example of what one should look like. or just another excuse to show mine off  ;).  We purchased these together last week some time.  I think it was on Sunday.

you guys think everything is cool with this thing? i noticed frilly yellow stuff on the outside of the polyps when i first got it home. then Nate came over last night & was throttled by the shape and ran home to get his camera. i can take pics with my new sony, but i have to fool with the settings. everything turns out blurry.

Does it stay closed all the time? Or just while eating?

Awesome. If you ever want to see the polyps open without having to feed. Simply poor a little cyclopeze into a brine shrimp net and let it touch the water. I leave it there just hanging with the cyclopeze in the net without dumping it into the water. This causes them to open.

BTW how are you feeding them?
