I want to take every thing from my 10g to my 55g but I have a twin spot goby that eats pods and I'm not sure if there is enough pod population
to support him so I was wondering if I could take the sand out and put it in my 55 g for pods

How long has the tank been up? May want to be careful not to disturb the sand as it can have nasty gas pockets in it. Better off buying some online to boost your pod population.

I'd skip transferring it. Don't want to risk hitting a gas pocket. Transfer a cup of sand ... Not all of it.

How deep is the sandbed on the 10 gallon. A gas pocket isn't going to matter once things are transferred. I say if the sandbed isn't mode than a couple of inches you will be fine to mix the old sand with new....or just put the old sand over the new sand in a layer
