To sump or not to sump?

    Yeah that would work too.. make a beefy sump.. or hell.. just put the 55 upstairs...and the 37 as a sump lol

    If your seriously going to do the basement action, oceanparadise1 gave you a very generous offer. Also keep in mind you can grab one of those hundred gallon rubbermaid troughs for only a few bucks (Last time I checked it was only .75cents a gallon) and thats like an uber sump/refugium for what your describing.

    Although free is free :)

    yeah im with the 90g sump in the basement and cramming the 55 with coral nice coral and nice fish that would be awesome

    If I had the chance to do a sump in the basement, I would go all out with a huge Rubbermade cattle tank and a decent sized (100 to 200 gallon) tank upstairs in the wall.. we can all wish cant we..

    hahaha we think alike!
    outside of hiding equipment you really don't have to have a sump.
    not having one creates some different challenges like how to keep the scum from gathering on the water surface etc... having a sump creates some challenges to,if you can live with the hangon back stuff i'd save the cash for the upgrade

    A sump also adds water volume to the total system making it easyier to maintain levels.

    Definitely doing the basement sump. I have a 20g acrylic and a glass 15g. that I will make a refugium. Have a cpl buds comin over nxt week to start the plans and design. I'm psyched!
