This just grew out of my new Kupang Island rock?

Only had this live rock less than a week (tank only 3 weeks old) and can someone identify what just started growing out of the side? A Anemone or Coral of some sort? This is a suprise to say the least!

thats lookin like aiptasia clutch. not a good thing. should get rid of it

Talk to me about this, I am unfamiliar with it? Should I take the rock out ASAP? It's a small rock at that. Thanks!

 

Aptasia for sure.. look for others. Do not manually remove or you will spread. Look for aptasia X, or if you have a few and are looking into getting shrimp at any time, get some peppermint shrimp. They cleaned mine right up. Make sure they are actual peppermint (not camel) they look similar and camel can destroy some corals.

 

I just added one blood red shrimp, will he take care of it? That is the only one I see, nothing on any of the other rocks. If I take the rock out of the tank and inject it or torch the portion with high local heat? How will it spread?

 

theres a few different ways to rid it. as cd said, dont pluck it. either the aiptasia x , which i use has been excellent. or theres joes juice. some ive heard inject boiling water into the base and take the weed out that way. think theres a home remedy with lemon juice also injected. the aip x and joes juice are carried at lfs's
