There is some thin, stringy, and clear stuff coming off what seems to be my clam mantle. MY clam looks very unhappy as it is closed about halfway. Cannot get a piccutre as it is colorless and does not clearly come out in the picture. HELP PLEASE

Look for vermitid snails. They will be coiled at the base with a tube extending up. If it is the snail then what you are seeing is its feeding web.

How bad are they...If I do have them?
Edit: Just looked at the mantle/base and I really did not see much of anything that looks alarming. I did see 3 or 4 TINY curls that almost look like a featherduster's skeleton that is MUCH thinner and smaller. Is this what your talking about? They were seriously small though....like 1/4 the size of a grain of rice

be warned bristle worms can also cause clams problems, even little ones- pick the clam up and look under him (if possible- do not do this if the clam is attached) esp. at the foot area. what type of clam do you have?

well then you can pick him up and have a look at it's underside, never do this with a crocea, or a maxima- they attach just like an anemone.

Ok...thanks for the help. No bristle worms, but I did see like 4 or 5 more of those curl things I mentioned a few posts ago ^^^^^^^
What are they? To me they look like nothing at all. I just got rid of all of the "web"
I just looked at a pic. of a vermetid snail feeding web...I think that might be the web I saw.
Are these snails bad? If so what should I do?
