THE GREAT CORAL GIVEAWAY - 2012
    Coral #1: Micromussa
Description: "A nice size colony with approximately 50 polyps. WOW!"

HOW TO ENTER: Simply like this photo or leave a comment before 12 pm PST on Friday, 7/6.

HOW TO WIN: Winner will be chosen at random.

    Care Level: Intermediate
    Lighting: Medium Intensity
    Waterflow: Moderate
Placement: Middle to bottom of aquarium
Water Parameters: Temperature: 72-78° F; pH 8.1-8.3; Specific Gravity 1.023-1.025; dKH 8-12; Calcium 400-450ppm; Nitrate less than 10ppm
    Origin: Pacific
    Family: Mussidae

Micromussa corals are available in many color variations ranging from solid-color specimens to exotic multi-color splendors. They are similar to Acanthastrea and Lobyphyllia corals and have similar care requirements. They do best under medium intensity lighting and prefer to be in moderate, indirect water flow. Mocromussa corals have fairly short sweeper tentacles and are a non-aggressive coral. They should not be placed near corals that have long stinging sweepers. As with most LPS corals, they benefit from direct weekly feeding with meaty foods: mysis shrimp, small pieces of krill and Cyclop-eeze. Higher levels of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium will help speed up its growth and improve its health.
