The first frozen coral bank for Hawaiian Corals has begun in Oahu, Hawaii that may one day lead restoration efforts in the future to ailing reefs in decline today. Scientists at the Smithsonian Institution and the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa have frozen coral cells and sperm from mushroom, rice and fugia coral that in theory could be thawed successfully 1,000 years from now. This is just a start as they wish to store many corals from Hawaiian reefs.

Wow that's great, hopefully they have their own generators or a black out wouldn't be very good.

That is awesome, hopefully other areas with reefs follow suit.
