    I'm setting up a 60 gal freshwater with australian rainbow fish. do you know what type of soil (I would like to use back sand), and plants these fish like?

    The fish itself dosen't need any particular substrate but if your goal is live plants then use a substrate that will help you support them. Black sand would help bring out the colors in the fish. As far as plants go the fish is from Australia so i'd look for freshwater plants from Australia because those would be found in its natural habitat.

    I know its not the best advice but i hope it helps.
