    Well they won't really intertwine because of growth pattern but you can certainly put 2 (or more)colors of the same species together.Lords have better color for the most part.

    The echinata specifically; it needs some breathing room from everything.

    Exactly; lords can all go together just fine.

    I just realized that the echinata not only is attached to the main body of rock, it also has nothing around it to stop it from slowly taking over that rock and, with long enough time, killing everything else I put nearby... not awesome.

    How big can a colony of echinatas grow?

    Nearly all corals grow much larger in nature than what we can allow in our little glass boxes. :)
