I have 1 fancy goldfish in a 10 gallon tank. He is in my sun room.

We are headed into a gold old cold Canadian winter & I'd like shut the door between the sun room & the rest of the house & use it as an airlock to make the rest of the house easier to heat. It will be no problem moving the few plants or my lap top, but the goldfish................ I have 1 lead off my heat pump in the sunroom, but I don't know how much good that will do.
    What are your feelings ?

It just occurred to me. I suppose I could put a heater in the tank & see if it could maintain a decent temperature. Your feelings ?

goldfish are supposed to survive w/o heater but if you think the temp in that room will be below 0C you should add a heater. try to maintain temp of tank around 10C and the fish should survive.

I am no goldfish expert - but Koi are related to goldfish and they can take near freezing temperatures all winter long.

    I'll defer to FW experts . . .

Fancies need higher temps than Koi. 15C at least I believe.
