    Bad morning,

I overlooked the gas bill and when i realized that there was no heat in the house. My temperature usually runs 80 degrees in my tank but this morning it is at 76. The gas company will be here sometime today to reconnect but in the mean time i have turned on the lights hoping that it will raise the temperature back up. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks Peter

If it stays around 76 I wouldn't worry..turning your lights on was a good idea though. Suggestion: Get a heater!!! lol

That temp isn't bad, if your really concerned, wrap the tank in towels or blankets to presever the heat, it works very well.

If there's any hot water in your water heater, use it to fill up some ziploc bags and float them in your tank. You can also microwave the water before putting it in to the bags. I've had to do this with power outages.

76 is good. I dont use a heater in my reef tank.. I live in florida though.. my house always between 73-79 degrees.. my tank always between 75-80 degrees depending on outside temps..

my lights help heat the tank as well as the pumps in the sumps..

I would suggest having a heater on a controller just in case. Better safe than sorry.
