OK guys, I need help deciding what to do. Which would you choose and why? What are some advantages and disadvantages to either set-up? I would really appreciate everyone's advice on this one, this will be my last upgrade so I want to do it right. Thank you!! :)

Well whats the size of the tank!? I would go with the TEK lighting though. I wish I had!!

I wouldn't like the whole heat issue too. Let's see what other people say!

Forgot to say this will be on my 18 gallon via aqua, about 16 inches deep and would like sps's and acros to thrive like crazy with great color.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP :):):)

please explain any info you could give and why you chose which one, any pro's and con's would be helpful as well.

Heading into work now so I will check back here when I am done.

MH/T5. I love the combo's. Limitless possibilities. Go big or go home ;)

I guess the pro's would be the added power and the limitless choices. The con's would be higher energy usage, and *possible* heat issues, though I think you would be OK with a 70W.

I'm for the 4 t5s... less heat, less power. just don't trust your icecap ballast farther than you can drop kick it. /mutters angrily....

t5's here, this will avoid any possiblity of any heat issues arising, and at your depth you'll be able to grow anything on the sand with good bulbs

Heck, I can grow just about anything on the sandbed of a 180 with T5!!;D

Nano, honestly even with me being Mr T5 I am tore here. MH is nice, and you have the glitter lines but T5 is the wave of the future and you have nearly endless spectrum blending abilities.

    What are the actual dimensions?

Get the best of both worlds! As long as you run a fan, your heat issues should be ok.
