    Whats that? we have to get a new RO unit because ours broke... so i can see if i can go get one.

    That might explain it. ;) I have a "Marina Aqua-Minder". It is about $25 online and at LFS. I suggest you get one.

    The thermometer with the little bulb with red liquid in it at the bottom and temperature scale running up the side. Costs about $2.

    No disagreement there, just find a spot on the side that it is less likely to be seen to mount it. And get the $25 unit too if you want. Redundancy is good in reef keeping.

    I have my aqua-mider and 2 sticky thermometers on the outside of the glass plus my alcohol thermometer. Even the alcohol thermometer isn't very exact. I found it to be of by about 2 degrees, +/-

    What were you using to calibrate the alcohol thermometer?

    I've said it before and I'll say it again. The thermostats on heaters stink and are more likely to cook your fish than freeze them. This is even more critical in a nano tank. Invest as soon as possible in a controller to protect your livestock.- paul

    I haven't calibrated it. I didn't know there was a way.:confused: I think I've had it for about 6months now? But it didn't seem very accurate, even when I got it.
